★★☆☆☆ (2/5) One star for the sincere effort of the lead actor, and one star for the memorable title song.
The film attempts to tackle themes of class divide and the purity of love versus materialism. However, it treats these themes superficially. The message is delivered through heavy-handed dialogues rather than subtle storytelling. It celebrates a naive, almost toxic level of devotion where the protagonist sacrifices everything for a girl he barely knows, a trope that feels outdated by modern standards.
Kabir looked up, intrigued. “Beyond the moon? That’s not a film. That’s a suicide note for a budget.”
The production values scream "low budget." The camera work is functional but uninspired. The lighting is flat, often looking like a television set rather than a film set. The foreign locations (used for songs) are pretty, but the editing is choppy, making the narrative flow feel disjointed.
They sat in silence.
