The situation is notably different for users on the Android operating system. Because Android is an open-source platform used by various manufacturers (such as Samsung, Google, and Motorola), the handling of blocked calls and voicemails lacks standardization. On many Android devices, when a number is blocked, the system treats the call as if the phone is turned off or out of service. Consequently, the caller is often unable to leave a voicemail at all. The call is disconnected before the voicemail system engages.
