Prakash Raj reprises his role from the original Telugu version, and he is undoubtedly the backbone of Santhosh Subramaniam . It is a difficult role; he plays a father who loves his son to the point of suffocation. Prakash Raj walks a fine line between being a loving parent and a controlling authoritarian. He manages to make the audience empathize with him even when his character is making frustrating decisions. His dialogue delivery—especially in the climax monologue where he realizes his mistake—is powerful and emotionally draining. He proves why he is the undisputed king of this genre.
