If you replace an HDD with an SSD, ensure the SATA mode is before installing Windows/Linux. If you clone an old IDE-mode HDD to an SSD, the new SSD will also run in IDE mode—losing TRIM and speed. You'll need to switch to AHCI afterward (see fix below).
