Sheldon is bored. After correcting his teacher, Missy’s teacher, and the principal about the exact speed of sound, his mother Mary (Zoe Perry) realizes that the local high school isn't enough. She takes Sheldon to a community college to audit a physics class taught by the gruff but intrigued Professor John Sturgis (Wallace Shawn).

This episode is a cornerstone for the series because it establishes the show's heart. Unlike The Big Bang Theory , which often focused on Sheldon’s eccentricities as a grown man, Young Sheldon uses this episode to show his vulnerability.
