Unlike minimizing (which sends a window to the Dock), hiding removes the entire app from view without animating into an icon. It feels snappier and cleaner. then press N .

Press to display the desktop. Pressing it again restores all windows. Press Win + M to minimize all windows.

The Genie or Scale effect animation cannot be fully disabled (without third-party tools). It adds a deliberate ~0.4-second delay, which breaks the feeling of an "instant" action.
