Keeping Lincoln outside allowed Dominic Purcell to play a different kind of urgency. In the earlier seasons, Lincoln was often the passive participant—the target to be saved. In Season 3, he becomes the savior. We see him desperately trying to save his son, LJ, and his brother simultaneously.
