Door Lock Mechanism Diagram __hot__ Direct
There are several types of door lock mechanisms, including:
The cutaway diagram demonstrates the pin-tumbler mechanism. In a locked state, the are pushed down by springs into the plug , creating a shear line that blocks rotation. When the correct key is inserted, the cuts on the key push the pins up, aligning them perfectly at the shear line . This alignment separates the driver pins (in the housing) from the key pins (in the plug). The plug is now free to rotate 360 degrees. As the plug rotates, the attached actuator retracts the latch bolt via a spring-loaded mechanism, disengaging the lock from the strike plate and allowing the door to open. door lock mechanism diagram
