Montgomery’s original 1908 novel or the iconic 1985 Kevin Sullivan miniseries, the Venezuelan adaptation offers a unique case study in transnational literary adaptation. This paper argues that the 1985 series successfully localized a Canadian classic for a Latin American audience through the casting of the "ingénue" archetype, the utilization of RCTV’s distinct production aesthetic, and the preservation of the novel’s core themes of orphanhood and belonging within the specific framework of the Latin American "novela familiar."

The series utilized the studio-bound aesthetic typical of the era.
