Oasis, formed in Manchester in 1991, became a defining band of the 1990s Britpop movement. Led by the songwriting of Noel Gallagher and the volatile persona of his brother Liam Gallagher, the band released seven studio albums over 14 years. Their work is characterized by anthemic choruses, Beatlesque melodies, aggressive rock bravado, and lyrics blending working-class romanticism with swaggering arrogance. Their debut, Definitely Maybe , and their second album, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? , are cornerstones of British rock history.
