The film takes place in 1979, during the early days of the Iranian Revolution. A group of six American diplomats, led by Robert "Bob" Anders (Mark Strong), manage to escape the U.S. embassy in Tehran, which has been overrun by Iranian protesters. The CIA, led by Jack Carter (John Goodman), devises a plan to rescue the diplomats by posing them as a Canadian film crew making a science fiction movie called "Argo."

Based on real events, the film chronicles a daring covert operation to rescue six Americans during the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis. When the US embassy in Tehran is stormed, six diplomats manage to escape and take refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador. To get them out safely, a CIA specialist named Tony Mendez devises an improbable plan: create a fake Hollywood movie production scouting for locations in Iran, and pose the diplomats as the film crew. argo torrent
